Overview
A day in Kavala and Aid Cave
Join me for an unhurried visit to the coast, the old town and the cave.
Kavala is a city to explore on foot, with time to stop and enjoy the sea views.
We begin with the Kamares aqueduct, one of the city’s landmarks, then walk through the old town with its narrow streets, historic houses and small shops. If you wish, we can climb to the Acropolis for views over the city and the Aegean Sea, with time for Greek coffee.
We will also walk along the waterfront. You can have lunch in a traditional taverna and try a glass of local wine.
In the second part of the trip, we visit Aid Cave. Inside, a river flows beneath high ceilings and stalactites. We will follow the visitor route and take time to see the cave formations.
An optional addition is a visit to a mountain monastery, a place of quiet and seclusion. It houses an icon of the Mother of God, venerated as miraculous and not made by human hands. Please discuss this stop when planning the trip.
If you enjoy a relaxed pace, time by the sea and walks through old streets, I would be happy to share this day in Kavala with you.
